Chelsea FC Squad bring Chelsea cheer to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s youngest patients

23 December 2024

On 17 December, Chelsea FC players met delighted patients and their families being cared for in Mercury, Neptune, Apollo and Saturn wards.

With Christmas just around the corner, the Chelsea FC team paid a surprise visit to our children’s wards and staff, bringing much-needed joy and gifts this festive season.

On 17 December, the players met delighted patients and their families being cared for in Mercury, Neptune, Apollo and Saturn wards, handing out Chelsea FC goodie bags and taking photos to commemorate the day.

The team were welcomed by Trust chief executive Lesley Watts, who said, “On behalf of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, I would like to say a huge thank you to the entire squad. Seeing the children’s faces light up as their football heroes entered the room made the visit even more special. The festive period can be a challenging time for patients in hospital, so having the team bring cheer and share gifts with our young patients and ward staff makes all the difference.”

The children also got to meet the Chelsea FC mascots, Stamford and Bridget, and took some impressive penalty shots against them.

Sarah Chin, Ward Manager, said, “It is always so nice to have the Chelsea FC team visit our paediatric patients at this time of year. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and for making the children’s time in hospital more festive and magical.”
