• Chelsea and Westminster Hospital delivers its first ever ‘robotic hernia super-Saturday’

  A team of 12 surgical staff performed an impressive 11 robotic hernia operations in the first general surgery ‘super Saturday’ at the hospital.

  The North West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre was officially opened at Central Middlesex Hospital this week.

• Chelsea and Westminster HIV team awarded HSJ Partnership Award 2024 for Klick service

  The HIV team behind Klick, a digitally enabled pathway, have been awarded the HSJ Partnership Award 2024 for the Most Effective Contribution to Clinical Redesign.

• Important changes to patient drop-offs at West Middlesex

  While works for the Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC) at West Middlesex Hospital are underway, there will be no vehicle access or exit from the hospital via Hepple Close to Park Road.

• AI innovation at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital shortlisted for HSJ Digital Awards 2024

  Our digital innovation pilot project Dora has been shortlisted ‘Driving Change through AI and Automation’ at the HSJ Digital Awards 2024.

• Treatment Centre at Chelsea starts major redevelopment

  Works have commenced redeveloping the Treatment Centre and the Therapies outpatient department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with completion due in Spring 2025.

• Volunteers needed for mpox vaccine study

  Volunteers across London are being asked to join a study looking at the effectiveness of an investigational vaccine for mpox, previously known as Monkeypox.

• ADC community engagement session

  Approval has been given for West Middlesex University Hospital to shortly begin construction works to develop an Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC) at the back of the main hospital site, near the Park Road entrance.

  The 2023 NHS Staff Survey results are in and our Trust has been rated no.2 in London as a place to work and recognised as one of the leading trusts nationwide.

  Each year the organisation which regulates the NHS carries out a national survey to find out more about the care received by patients who are admitted to the hospital for at least one night.

• Doctors’ strike action update—February 2024

  Industrial action by junior doctors who are members of the British Medical Association is planned to take place, starting from 7am on Sat 24 Feb until 11:59pm on Wed 28 Feb 2024.

• Protected mealtimes for patients

  Protected mealtimes will help create a quiet, relaxed atmosphere for inpatients to enjoy their meals. It will also enable staff to provide additional nutrition support to patients during these times.

• Arc Day Programme opens: A new community-based service for young people with an eating disorder

  Arc Day Programme, a north west London community-based service for young people aged between 13 and 17 with an eating disorder, is now open in Arc, a new bespoke space on the Fulham Road.

• Chelsea and Westminster Hospital introduces AI-powered solution for cataract surgery patients

  Chelsea and Westminster Hospital have begun a pilot to contact patients on the cataract surgery pathway using an AI-powered solution called Dora.

• Trust wins Gold award in recognition of support for the armed forces community

  We are delighted to announce that our Trust has received a Gold Award from the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme. This prestigious award recognises our work in advocating for, and supporting, former and current defence and armed forces personnel along with their families, both patients and staff.
