In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the postnatal team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has partnered with digital health company Lumeon to launch a new, innovative digital postnatal discharge system.
This system, powered by Lumeon technology, was created to improve the patient experience, increase efficiency and reduce costs at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
During the pandemic, mothers are likely to leave hospital more quickly after the birth, meaning they might not have had all their usual face-to-face contacts with community midwives and health visitors.
To tackle these constraints, the new system allows multidisciplinary team members to quickly see what they need to do next, and by when, for each patient to meet their discharge slot. Staff can communicate more effectively with new mums and provide a more holistic overview relating to them and their baby to help get them ready for home.
Chloe Roberts, Lead Midwife for Postnatal Ward (pictured above) said: “The use of these discharge summaries has ensured that, throughout difficult circumstances, our women remain informed about their health. This altogether means that our women’s experiences continue to be enhanced.”
