Celebrating 100 years of West Middlesex Hospital
17 September 2021
This year we celebrated the 100th anniversary of West Middlesex Hospital
- Extraordinary links between Norway and West Mid stretching back as far as the Second World War - hear from Norweigan Ambassador to the UK, Wegger Chr Strommen tell the remarkable story and connections between Norway and West Middlesex Hospital.
- Before it became West Middlesex Hospital, many local people knew it as Brentford Workhouse.
- The hospital played an integral role in both World Wars looking after wounded people and soldiers, and patients who had been evacuated from central London.
- It has undergone many changes over the years but at its heart remains a hospital firmly rooted in the local community, employing local people, often from multiple generations within the same family.
- Find out more about the centenary of West Middlesex University Hospital and how much it has changed in this short film featuring some of our key leaders, staff, and supporters (recorded by our charity CW+).
To celebrate West Middlesex’s 100th year CW+ organised key events over the last 12 months including an online exhibition, displaying key moments of the hospital’s past and a celebration for staff - thank you to CW+, all of our staff, patients and supporters.
