Exciting new recruitment in our Therapies Division

24 January 2022

We are proud to announce the brand-new recruitment to a Consultant Allied Health Professional (AHP) post within our Children’s Music Therapy service.

We are proud to announce the brand-new recruitment to a Consultant Allied Health Professional (AHP) post within our Children’s Music Therapy service.

The creation of a consultant post is in response to both the NHS long term plan and AHPs into Action framework. Both call for innovative practice approaches to enable the workforce to develop, meet the changing needs of services, and create the workforce of the future. Consultant AHP roles embed leadership, research, advanced clinical practice, and integrated education with higher education institutions within their portfolio.

Jeremy Nugent, Head of Therapies, said: “We are delighted to appoint Dr Claire Flower to this new role. We are extremely proud that Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust can develop this exciting position that will be of enormous benefit to both children and families accessing our services, as well as the music therapy profession within the UK. This post is a fantastic workforce progression, recognising and supporting our talented allied health professionals and their roles within the Trust.”

Dr Claire Flower said: “The Trust is distinctive in having a strong children’s music therapy service, which, together with Juliet Wood, I have been privileged to lead over the last few years. I am delighted to move into this consultant role, looking forward to continuing to work with colleagues across the Trust in developing practice, research, and training both in music therapy and across children’s therapies more broadly.”
