Minister for Vaccination Maggie Throup visited our sexual health clinic 10 Hammersmith Broadway, who are leading the way on vaccinating the most at-risk groups in the capital.
On Tue 2 Aug, Minister for Vaccination Maggie Throup MP visited 10 Hammersmith Broadway, where mpox vaccinations are being offered alongside regular sexual health services. During her visit, she met staff and patients, noting, “About three quarters of the cases so far have been based in London and that’s why we are really focusing our vaccination effort here.”
Our Chief Nursing Officer, Robert Bleasdale, emphasised the importance of waiting to be contacted, highlighting the increasing number of cases. He said: “We offer the vaccine across all of our sites and are taking a very targeted approach—ensuring those most at risk of contracting mpox receive the vaccine first. We encourage you to take the vaccine when you are invited. We will eventually expand our offer to others.”
He also reassured the public that sexual health services remain fully operational across all sites. “There is online screening available, so you don’t have to come in face-to-face. But if you prefer an in-person appointment, please continue to access the service. We want to reassure Londoners that records are confidential and completely separate from your GP record.”
