Sexual Health London (SHL), which is part of our HIV and Sexual Health service, has won the HSJ Digital award for optimising clinical pathways through digital.
Sexual Health London (SHL), which is part of our HIV and Sexual Health service, has won the HSJ Digital award for Optimising Clinical Pathways Through Digital. SHL is a partnership between Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Preventx Ltd and Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor.
The award recognises their outstanding work in providing online sexual health testing for patients living in London. During the pandemic, SHL rapidly increased testing at a time that access to physical clinics was disrupted by providing contraception remotely, online support and treatment for partners of service users with chlamydia as well as introducing domestic abuse screening and support.
SHL also uses digital solutions to identify people eligible for PrEP, offers unlimited STI testing for people taking PrEP, and signposts people to mpox vaccination services. Despite the recovery of many face-to-face clinics post-pandemic, SHL continues to grow and to date 2.2 million online orders for STI kits have been made, making it the largest publicly funded STI service in the world.
