Sexual Health London wins HealthInvestor Award

We are delighted to announce that last week at the HealthInvestor Awards, Chelsea and Westminster Trust, City of London, Preventx, and LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor received the Public/Private Partnership of the Year for the Sexual Health London programme.

Sexual Health London was launched in 2018 and is a digital sexual health and contraception platform for London residents. Service users register online and can order a sexual health testing kit to test themselves for sexually transmitted infections and routine and emergency contraception. To date, over 2 million London residents have used this service.

In 2020 SHL began providing emergency and routine methods of contraception remotely.  It has expanded and adapted over the years, specifically supporting access to sexual health services across the capital during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the mpox outbreak last year.

Here is what the judges said when recognising our work:

“This innovative three-way population sexual health partnership demonstrates brilliantly how diverse capabilities, cultures and experiences can be brought together for the public good – in this case for a public-sector commissioner. An excellent example of a partnership where a new way of working and clinical model can both improve the patient outcome and experience, and deliver substantial cost savings to the taxpayer.”

Sara Day, Consultant Sexual Health/HIV and Clinical Lead for SHL also added, “Well done and thank you to the SHL clinical team at CWFT, based at John Hunter Clinic in St Stephen’s Centre, for their dedication and hard work. It is such a great achievement to have the work and the team acknowledged in this way.”
