State of the art diagnostic centre approved for planning at West Middlesex University Hospital

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce that planning approval has been granted for a brand new Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC) at the West Middlesex University Hospital site. This marks a major step forward for the development of patient care in our local community.

The new state of the art facility will provide cancer, renal and imaging services for local residents of Hounslow, Richmond and Ealing, ensuring that people can access tests and treatment more quickly and closer to home. It will also help reduce pressure on urgent care services at the main hospital by caring for non-urgent patients at the ADC.

Cancer and renal disease account for one of the largest health impacts for the local population. The ADC will double capacity for these services, ensuring that the local community can access treatment locally.

The new centre will give local people faster access to tests and treatments closer to home, while reducing pressure on urgent care services at the main hospital. It will play a vital role in transforming health outcomes for people in Hounslow, Richmond and Ealing.”

The new £73 million investment is the largest capital project that the Trust has ever run, which includes a £15 million capital grant from NHS England. It recognises the demand of a growing population, and the need for new services. The establishment of the ADC will also result in the release of space in the main hospital building to enable the hospital to modernise and expand key services such as A&E.

The centre will include a modern education facility, which will improve the skills and knowledge of staff. The development will help future-proof recruitment and retention of staff within the local community.

The centre will support outpatient care and will offer day services for patients, opening approximately 12 hours per day, 6 days a week.

Construction work is due to start in summer 2023 and aims to be complete by the end of 2025.
