Trust appoints new non-executive directors

Carolyn Downs and Professor Neena Modi have been appointed to the board of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as non-executive directors. They will also be part of the board in common for the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative made up of all four acute NHS trusts in north west London. 

Carolyn and Neena have replaced Peter Goldsbrough and Professor Andy Bush who have stepped down from their roles as non-executive directors after completing their terms of office. They are also starting as non-executive directors of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. 

Matthew Swindells, who chairs the Trust board and the board in common, said: "I'm delighted that Carolyn and Neena have joined the Trust, the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative and our board in common. This is a very important time in our development and I know we will benefit hugely from the wealth of knowledge and experience they will bring to the roles.

More about Carolyn 

Carolyn is the recently retired chief executive of the London Borough of Brent and was previously chief executive of the Local Government Association. Prior to that, she was deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice, chief executive of the Legal Services Commission and chief executive of Shropshire County Council. She has worked in local government in numerous councils for almost 40 years.  

More about Neena

Neena is professor of neonatal medicine and faculty of medicine vice-dean (international affairs) at Imperial College London, a fellow and member of the Council of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and president-elect of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine.

She has held a number of previous health leadership roles, including past-president of the British Medical Association, UK Medical Women’s Federation and UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She has also been president of the Neonatal Society and of the Academic Paediatrics Association of Great Britain and Ireland.
