Trust featured in Channel 4 broadcast on endometriosis

06 April 2023

The Trust has been featured in a Channel 4 broadcast on endometriosis, showcasing our excellent surgery and pioneering research to support women with endometriosis.

The Trust was featured in a Channel 4 broadcast on endometriosis yesterday, including interviews with Mr Amer Raza (Lead, Endometriosis and Robotic Surgeon), Miss Natalie Nunes (Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist) and Lauren Trepte (Women’s Health Research Midwife), showcasing our excellent surgery and pioneering research to support women with endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition that affects 1 in 10 women worldwide, and it can be a debilitating and painful disease that can have a significant impact on a person's quality of life. Despite its prevalence, there is still a lack of awareness and understanding surrounding endometriosis, which can lead to significant delays in diagnosis and treatment.

The programme followed the journey of patient Vanessa, who bravely shared her story and her operation on camera, and explored the cultural barriers to diagnosis and treatment. This feature is an important step in raising awareness of the disease and the need for greater education, research and support for those affected by it.

We are proud of the determination to raise awareness of this disease shown by everyone involved in this work, and their commitment to doing so with kindness and humility. We hope that this coverage will help to further break down the cultural barriers to diagnosing and treating endometriosis, and encourage more people to seek the support and treatment they need.
