Upcoming Maternity Services survey

04 February 2025

If you gave birth in January or February this year, you may receive an invitation to participate in this upcoming survey. Find out more.

At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to providing exceptional maternity care for you and your baby. Ranked among the top three in London for maternity experience, our services have also been highlighted as best practice in the September 2024 CQC report, including our triaging service at West Middlesex University Hospital and cultural and board safety champions at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

We take a holistic approach to childbirth, prioritising the wellbeing of the whole family during the birthing experience. Feedback from last year’s maternity survey highlighted that those who gave birth at our Trust felt that the staff caring for them involved their birthing partners in all aspects of their care, which helped to promote a positive and supportive experience.

Additionally our breastfeeding support, including workshops and on-ward assistance, places us among the top 10 Trusts nationwide.

Each year, we deliver more than 10,000 babies and our staff are dedicated to continually improving our service to ensure that everyone receives the highest quality of safe and personalised care.

Your feedback matters—have your say.

We are excited to announce the launch of an NHS survey in April 2025, focusing on your experiences with our maternity services.

If you gave birth in January or February this year, you may receive an invitation to participate in this survey. We value your feedback on the quality of care and support you received during your pregnancy, labour, birth, and postnatal period.

Your impact: Last year, 283 women shared their insights with us, guiding our improvements. Because of feedback in previous years, we have been able to make positive changes, including:

  • Kindness campaigns: Implementing campaigns and patient stories to promote kindness and compassion across all areas.
  • Cultural inclusivity: Launching a cultural safety toolkit to support staff to encourage decision-making for women from diverse backgrounds.
  • Antenatal appointments: Extending appointment times to 30 minutes to provide more time for your questions to be answered.
  • Induction of labour: Introducing workshops and guides to better inform you about the risks of induced labour.
  • Postnatal ward: Introducing bedside handover processes to ensure more opportunities for you to ask questions.

How to participate

If invited, you will receive a letter with instructions on completing the survey online or on your phone. If you prefer, a paper questionnaire will be sent to you later.

Your participation is confidential and will not affect your care in any way.

Your feedback drives change

The results, to be published in Autumn 2025, will help us understand your thoughts on our maternity services and care. Your feedback is vital for us to make meaningful improvements and continue providing the best care.

We especially encourage black and ethnic minority groups to share their experiences, as we continue to ensure our services remain inclusive and supportive for everyone.

Even if you are not chosen at random to participate in this survey, you can still share your feedback.

Our Trust Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) is a group that brings together service users, staff and other stakeholders to improve the safety, quality and experience of maternity and neonatal care, and the team are always happy to discuss your care - chelwest.mnvp@nhs.net
