Register your interest to become a volunteer at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is in Chelsea. We recruit volunteers in recruitment rounds throughout the year. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the registration form to express your interest to become a volunteer. You will be contacted by email when we begin a recruitment round to tell you about the roles that we are recruiting to.

Patient Flow Volunteer

Your role will be provide support to patients, visitors and staff in a variety of hospital areas. The Patient Flow Volunteer role offers support to patient’s from the point of being admitted to the point of discharge, with a view to ensuring their experience is positive and that they are discharged as soon as possible once medically fit. Although your role will not be clinical, you will have a key part to play as it provides the hospital with an extra pair of hands, assisting with non-clinical tasks such as internal pharmacy runs, patient support to the discharge lounge, surveys, admin duties and supporting staff wellbeing.

Shifts are from 9am–1pm and 1–5pm on weekdays.

Ward Helper

As a Ward Helper, you will have a key role to play during ward mealtimes on our adult inpatient wards. Your role will be to work alongside our clinical colleagues to support patients; ensuring they are ready to eat and helping them to eat. The role provides the ward with an extra pair of hands, assisting with non-clinical tasks, chatting to patients and running errands for staff and patients. This is a popular role as it provides patient contact and a good insight into and experience of working in a hospital.

Shifts are from 11:30am–2:30pm and 5–7:30pm on weekdays and weekends.

A&E Volunteer

This role involves spending time with patients and supporting those who are important to them, offering refreshments and reassurance. Accompanying patients to other areas of the hospital and keeping them up to date with developments and waiting times. As well as supporting staff with various tasks to help the efficient running of the department.

Shift are from 9am–1pm and 1–5pm on weekdays and weekends.
