Dentistry (children)
What we do
We are the largest provider of children’s dental care in North West London, offering specialist diagnostic and treatment services for all aspect of oral health for children and young adults under 16 years of age.
The department is one of the few units in London specialising in delivering full mouth rehabilitation for severely autistic young patients. Within the department, we house a sensory room which provides a safe, comfortable space for autistic patients to use or wait in.
We offer specialist dental treatment for children who have:
- Suffered dento-alveolar trauma (injuries to primary or permanent arrangement/condition of teeth)
- Developmental issues such as hypodontia (missing teeth), amelogenesis imperfecta (enamel problems), hypoplasia (underdevelopment) dentinogenesis imperfecta (discolouration to development problems)
- Special needs and surgical needs—eg impacted teeth, frenectomies (tissue removal), extra teeth and infraocclusion (where teeth fail to emerge properly)
- Anxiety and needs behaviour management (including general anaesthesia)
- Complex medical history or conditions
- Soft tissue pathology
All new patients are assessed in a consultant-led clinic, and we particularly specialise in treating children with existing health problems, as well as those with special needs or traumatic injuries to the teeth.
