Cardiology
We diagnose and manage both acute (severe and sudden) and long-standing health conditions related to the heart.
What we do
We diagnose and manage both acute (severe and sudden) and long-standing health conditions related to the heart. We treat people requiring both inpatient and outpatient care and support. Patients requiring admission are seen in the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Chelsea and Westminster and at Syon 1 at West Middlesex.
We run a variety of specialist services and clinics as part of our overall approach to keeping you healthy:
- General Cardiology Clinic
- Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic
- Heart Failure Service
- Specialist Arrhythmia Clinic
- High risk pregnancy and cardio-obstetric service at Chelsea and Westminster
- Heart Failure Service
We provide non-invasive services including:
- ECGs
- Echocardiograms (including stress echo and transoesophageal echo)
- CT (computerised tomography) scannning
- Heart and blood pressure monitoring
- Exercise treadmill testing
- Pacemaker follow-up
- Arrhythmia clinic
- Tilt testing and syncope (loss of consciousness) service
We have a cardiac catheter suite based on the West Middlesex site for in-patients and day case outpatients, offering procedures, including pacemakers, coronary angiograms, angioplasty and stent insertion.
We work in closely with colleagues at tertiary centres with many of us also working at these centres to provide a comprehensive service.
